Gaines Holiday

HGTV/Rachel Whyte

Deck the halls Chip and Joanna Gaines–style with a swath of new products from Hearth & Hand With Magnolia. The “Fixer Upper” duo’s wildly popular Target collection got its annual sprinkling of holiday-themed housewares, and with gifting season just around the corner, now’s the time to shop.

But with over 200 new items in store—from faux wreaths to Christmas stockings to dinnerware—we couldn’t help but wonder which goodies are destined to be hot on holiday wish lists. To find out, we asked design experts to pick the festive favorites they think will sell like hotcakes. Here’s a sneak peek at the holiday items you should grab fast, before they’re gone.

1. Stoneware mug

Festive dinnerware is a must-have during the holidays, and this stoneware mug ($5.99, target.com) hits the mark, according to Anne Rue, owner and principal designer at Anne Rue Interiors.

“I love that it feels cozy and gives you that warm feeling of being home for the holidays,” she says. “But [it] also would look so nice with a full table setting.”

The mug boasts a wide handle, making it comfortable to hold, and the cream hue mixes easily with a variety of dinnerware styles. It’s also available in a green-speckled style ($5.99, target.com).

2. Advent calendar

The neutral design of this advent calendar makes it a holiday must-have.

Eager to kick off a new family tradition this holiday season? Chip and Joanna make it easy with this advent calendar ($24.99, target.com). Choose a festive item (say, a candy cane) and move it from pocket to pocket to count down the days until Christmas.

While this advent calendar might seem, well, plain, Suzanne Lee, a Boston-based commercial photo stylist, raves about its simple design.

“Neutrals and hearty textures are still in, making this natural canvas advent calendar a ‘yes’ to any home’s style,” she says.

3. Black-and-white plaid stocking

Hang this stocking on your mantel for a classic touch this season.

Instead of sticking to red and green this holiday season, dabble in black and white decor, Rue recommends. The Orlando-based designer is obsessed with Chip and Jo’s plaid stocking ($13, target.com) for its elevated black-and-white check.

“I love this combo because it’s so classic,” she says.

Finish your fireplace mantel decorations by adding this staple stocking, or let it fly solo as a decorative piece in the kitchen or on the stairwell.

Bonus: The stocking is 100% cotton, which means it’s easy to wash.

4. Cooking apron

Spice up your kitchen this holiday season with this stylish cooking apron.

The chaos of holiday cooking means you’re likely to encounter splashes and smears of various foodstuffs, so this plaid apron ($9.99, target.com) can help fend off stains in style.

The apron includes a front patch pocket, perfect for storing recipe cards while you cook. Its black-and-red pattern is a nod to Chip and Joanna’s modern farmhouse look, and New York City–based interior designer Carolyn DiCarlo can’t get enough: “It looks modern, clean, and simple.”

5. Tree stand

This tree stand is a stylish alternative to a tree skirt.

Switch up your normal holiday decor by adding a wooden tree stand ($34.99, target.com) to the mix. Hearth & Hand With Magnolia’s wooden tree stand slips like a collar around your tree and is a chic alternative to the typical holiday tree skirt.

Rue loves the black finish, noting that this tree collar looks classy and versatile. Its woven wood panels can easily be included in your decor lineup for other holidays, she says.

However, for a cohesive Christmas look, the Gaineses suggest pairing this tree stand with gold, white, and black ornaments.
