Recently retired NFL running back and return specialist Darren Sproles is selling the luxurious 4.5-acre estate he bought in 2015. The Poway, CA, property is listed for $3,248,000.
Last summer, Sproles announced that the 2018 season would be his last in the NFL. The 8,934-square-foot mansion near San Diego sure looks like it would be an ideal retirement spot. He paid $2.8 million for the estate four years ago.
A Midwest native, Sproles began his pro career in 2005 with the San Diego Chargers. Even though his 14-season NFL career took him to New Orleans and Philadelphia, he stayed in the San Diego area. It’s easy to see why: This stylish hacienda is loaded with designer bells and whistles and commands glorious views of the valley.
Outdoor luxuries include a tennis court; free-form, vanishing-edge pool with spa; and a gorgeous kitchen. There’s even a charming playground area for his two sons.
Lovely architectural features include four masonry fireplaces, high ceilings (some coffered and others with wooden beams), arched windows, and graceful patios.
The spacious chef’s kitchen is equipped with a center island, double sinks, refrigerators, and ovens. The master suite is also quite posh with two sets of glass doors and a private patio. The master bathroom includes double vanities and a free-standing tub with a view.
Sproles, 36, earned a Super Bowl LII championship ring with the Eagles, played in three Pro Bowls, and was named All-Pro twice.
Although Sproles said 2018 would be his last season, recent videos of Sproles training with Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Bears backup quarterback Chase Daniel have pundits wondering if he’s ready for yet another season in the NFL.
