A sweet beach house in Coronado, CA, owned by the family of University of Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh, awaits some tenants with deep pockets in their khakis. The resort spread is now available to rent for prices ranging from $15,000 a month to $35,000 a month depending on the season and demand.
Jim and his wife, Sarah Harbaugh, do have a connection to the area. The 54-year-old Wolverines coach was the San Diego Chargers’ quarterback in 1999 and 2000, and then head coach at the University of San Diego from 2004 to 2006.
The Palo Alto High School grad also spent eight years in the Bay Area, as head coach at Stanford and for the San Francisco 49ers.
And the proud dad gave the commencement speech at Coronado High School in 2015, the year his son graduated from there.
He should also be proud of his investment property. The spacious 4,650-square-foot retreat includes six beds and 3.5 baths, and can sleep 10 adults and eight children comfortably, according to the listing details.
“It’s a wonderfully renovated, charming, historic home just off the beachfront,” says listing agent Missy Cameron. “The goal was to create a welcoming, comfortable—but not fancy—livable place for the family to make lasting memories and relax. It’s an extraordinary home away from home.”
The rental price may be steep and above average for the area (median is about $4,000). But the multitude of rooms could allow a group of friends to go in on the property and still have plenty of room for for guests.
We can see the appeal. The location is just one house in from the beach, and the layout, with rooftop decks and balconies, has ocean views. The interiors have been recently renovated “to reflect [a] coastal living style,” with amenities like a cook’s eat-in kitchen, a formal dining room, living room, family or play area, outdoor patio and dining area, and room for bikes, plus a fenced yard. Pet owners, good news. Your dog is welcome.
